HealthTeacher is pleased to support the Blue Apple Award for Health Education.
Health is the most important curriculum in our schools today. The health habits created during youth will affect a student's entire life. Healthy learning means healthy children.
The Purpose of HealthTeacher is:
- To build health literacy among those who teach health.
- To help students develop both a knowledge base and a skills base to help them pursue a healthy lifestyle, throughout their life span.
- To provide value to School Districts through lower cost of ownership, alignment to standards, teacher certification and ease of implementation.
The CDC has identified eight core areas for the Coordinated School Health Programs. This program takes a holistic approach to providing health education and curriculum. The National Health Education Standards have identified 8 competency-based standards to articulate what students should know and be able to do to adopt or maintain health-enhancing behaviors.
